Anúncio para atribuição de Bolsa de Técnico de Investigação

Encontra-se aberto concurso para atribuição de uma Bolsa de Técnico de Investigação (BTI) destinada a bacharéis ou licenciados para desenvolvimento de projectos de conservação e restauro na área de Escultura em Pedra (Bens Móveis e Integrados).
Serão dada preferência a candidatos com experiência profissional, uma vez que os trabalhos incidirão sobre património relevante dos museus e palácios nacionais.

1. Duração e Regime de Actividade: Duração 36 meses, com início previsto para Outubro, em regime de exclusividade, conforme regulamento de formação avançada de recursos humanos da FCT.

2. Objecto de Actividade: O bolseiro irá efectuar o diagnóstico do estado de conservação de várias peças, acompanhando o seu estudo material e tecnológico, definindo e aplicando metodologias de intervenção de conservação e restauro.

3. Orientação Científica: Com enfoque na área de Conservação e Restauro de Escultura e pedra integrada, suas patologias, técnicas de caracterização e metodologias de intervenção.

4. Formação Académica: Bacharelato ou Licenciatura em Conservação e Restauro, com estágio curricular desenvolvido na área de Escultura ou Pedra.

5. Remuneração: O montante da Bolsa será de 745€ mensais.

Preference may be given to candidates in the early stages of their careers; to subjects related to the commissioning, collecting or interpretation of works of art made before 1914; and to research carried out outside the applicant’s country of residence. Scholars from any country may apply. An additional award may be made by the Trustees of The Burlington Magazine Foundation in conjunction with the Francis Haskell Trustees.

Applications, including a two-page proposal, a C.V. and a budget, should be sent by email to carolineelam@yahoo.co.uk – please label all attachments with surname of applicant – or by post to Caroline Elam, 531 Caledonian Road, London, N7 9RH, by 15th May 2009.

There is no application form.

Research Fellowship for Study of Buddhist Art

The Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM), Singapore is pleased to offer research fellowship grant from June 2009 to May 2010 in the field of Buddhist art and iconography. ACM promotes research on Asian art history, archaeology and material culture, and has earned a reputation in the museum arena for its gallery displays and exhibitions.

The position of Junior Research Fellow is open and we welcome applications from post-field PhD candidates. The fellowship is for the duration of one year (June 2009-May 2010) and the monthly stipend is S$3,000. For overseas scholars, the cost of relocation and airfare are capped at a total of S$3,000 as a one off payment.

Norma Jean Calderwood Curatorial Fellowship

The Curatorial Fellowship Program at the Harvard Art Museum is designed to broaden the experience of persons embarking on professional and scholarly careers in art history who are considering the museum profession. The Fellow shares fully in the range of curatorial activities including collections management, research and documentation of potential acquisitions and of the permanent collection, and in answering scholarly inquiries and general correspondence. The Fellow also delivers occasional educational talks for the public and undertakes a collections-related project.

The 2009-2011 Calderwood Curatorial Fellowship project will concentrate on researching the Norma Jean Calderwood Collection of Islamic Art in preparation for a permanent collection catalogue. Acquired by the Harvard Art Museum in 2002, the Calderwood Collection consists primarily of Persian ceramics, paintings, drawings, and lacquer objects produced from the ninth through nineteenth century, with a small number of Turkish and Indian works of art. Reading knowledge of Persian is preferred. The Calderwood Fellow may also have the opportunity to plan and produce a small, temporary installation for the Islamic and Indian gallery at the Harvard Art Museum.

The Harvard Art Museum, with the Straus Center for Conservation and Technical Studies, is a major center for art historical research and training. Fellows engage in close study and analysis of objects and their institutional frameworks, as well as broader issues of museum practice and museology.

The term of the fellowship in the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery is 22-months, beginning September 2009.

Basic Qualifications:

M.A. and graduate training in art history or related field.

Additional Qualifications:

Ph.D. past qualifying paper preferred; Demonstrated interest in the work of art museums and scholarship; Excellent written and verbal communications skills; competence in Persian, Turkish, or Arabic preferred; Computer proficiency in word processing and database applications preferred.

Baird Fellowship:

Upon completion of curatorial fellowship, fellows will be eligible to apply for the Baird Travel Research Fellowship. Baird fellowship awards are competitive, based on a proposed project requiring travel for research. The Baird Fellowship provides for return to Harvard within two years to lecture on his/her research results.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

 

Interacting with Print Research Group

Salary: CAD38,000 pa.  Anticipated Start Date: 1 August 2009.

The Interacting with Print Research Group seeks applications for a postdoctoral fellowship starting 1 August 2009 for one year, with the possibility of reappointment for a further year.  The research group is a joint initiative of McGill University and the Université de Montréal, which brings together scholars with an interest in British, French, German and Italian print cultures of the period 1700-1900, from departments of History (Susan Dalton, Université de Montréal), English (Tom Mole, McGill), German (Andrew Piper, McGill), Art History (Richard Taws, McGill), and Comparative Literature (Nikola von Merveldt, Université de Montréal). Our current research, funded by the Fonds québécois de la recherche sur la société et la culture (FQRSC), focuses on how printed matter interacted with non-print media, how individuals interacted with printed matter, and how they interacted with each other through the medium of print.  The responsibilities of the postdoctoral fellow will include conducting research in his/her field of specialization, participating in the activities of the research group, including our annual colloquium and graduate student workshop, and contributing to their administration. The postdoctoral fellow will receive a stipend of C$38,000 pa, and a research/travel allowance of C$2,000 pa.  Opportunities for teaching may arise, which will be paid in addition to the fellowship stipend.  The successful candidate will have completed a doctorate in a relevant discipline by July 2009, and will be expected to reside in Montreal for the duration of the fellowship; knowledge of French is an advantage.

Faculty of Arts Postgraduate International Coursework Scholarships

This scholarship will be offered to outstanding international students undertaking a Masters (Coursework) program in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Sydney. These scholarships only cover the tuition fees for the whole degree program in which the applicant is enrolled. 

To be considered for an IPCS scholarship, applicants must have an unconditional offer of a place in their chosen program of study in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Sydney.

Scholarships will be available for all postgraduate coursework degree programs in the Faculty of Arts. In the 2009 round of offers, applications for admission to the following degrees will be given priority:

  • Master of Human Rights
  • Master of International Studies
  • Master of Media Practice
